Control valves are typically chosen based on capacity index, pipe size, pipe fittings, flow characteristic, porting (2-way vs. mixing or diverting), close-off rating, and internal construction to match the physical requirements of the hydronic system. Valve control may be two-position or proportional, with or without fail safe action.

The VC7900 Series Modulating Control Valves provide precision flow control of hot or chilled water in various heating and cooling applications. The VC hydronic valve consists of a valve body and replaceable characterized cartridge assembly. When used with a Honeywell VC7900 actuator, the valve provides proportional flow in modulating, diverting or mixing applications. They are designed to operate silently and resist water hammer. Features include:
- All actuators are interchangeable and suitable for all valves, 1/2" through 1", providing maximum installation flexibility with minimum stock.
- Replaceable cartridge provides easy valve serviceability without plumbing.
- High close-off pressure rating is suitable for open systems and hydronic HVAC systems with temporary high head pressure.
- Actuator is constructed of moisture and humidity resistant materials.
- Motor de-energizes when valve is not in motion, extending service life.
- Manual opener and position indicator. This "manual opener" may be used for filling, venting, and draining the system.
- Twist-lock actuator can be installed after plumbing work has been completed, which makes for more efficient on-site installation. Multi-directional actuator mount allows for 4 different wiring orientations, thus providing ease of wiring and service.

- In this balanced valve design, the internal piston moves up and down across the water flow. The actuator provides sinusoidal piston travel action for "soft shut-off" and open, to eliminate water hammer in most applications.

The FD300 attitude control valve controls the water level in, for example, water reservoirs without the need for using a float valve or other ancillary controls. The highly sensitive pilot valve and the main valve are installed outside the water reservoir and the pilot valve senses the hydrostatic water pressure from the water level in the reservoir. The main valve closes when the maximum set pressure for the pilot valve is reached and reopens when the water level corresponds to the lower set value on the pilot valve. The standard version permits filling of a water storage unit. A special version is also available on request which can be used for both filling and emptying water storage units.

Honeywell Gas Control Valves
An electrically-operated single stage valve designed to handle natural gas, the Honeywell VR8304 Universal Gas Valve has a pressure regulator of 3.5" wc. The Honeywell VR8300A 3518 Standing Pilot Gas Valve is a single stage valve with standing pilot ignition with uses in 24 HVAC systems.
Able to handle natural gases, the Honeywell 3518 Standing Pilot Gas Valve can withstand temperatures from 0-175° F. The VR8300A 4516 Standing Pilot Gas Valve is another of Honeywell's single stage valves. With an inlet/outlet size of ¾ in, it includes 2 reducer bushings of ¾ x ½ in.
As the largest of Honeywell's gas control valves, the VR8345M 4302 Universal Electronic Ignition Gas Valve has a high capacity of 300,000 BTUs per hour. This single stage valve can withstand colder temperatures than most other valves, as low as -40° F, and has a direct ignition and intermittent pilot system.
